Vertical Saw Arbor (VSA)

If you're looking for another option to recover your slabs then a VSA is a great option. When adding vertical edgers to your Overhead or Sharp Chain machines, put this machine in to process 3 1/2" up to 5 1/2" wide material. Options to cut up to 6" thick slabs. Lengths can vary depending on the length of your slabs. Comes with infeed with two double sharp top chains and two sets of pushover feed rollers over the #80 roller chain. The VSA can have a single or double arbor that is on linear slides for easy maintenance. Also includes outfeed with safety cage and an optional hand stacking belt option. Comes with control panel with PLC to run the system. Also comes with starters and VFDs included for the whole package. Give us a call to find the best option for your application. Tandem Scragg Saw

Cooper Tandem Scragg is great for smaller diameter logs when you want a lot of production with minimum employees. The Tandem Scragg is comprised of two husk frames, with either 48" or 36" saws. Ultrasonic sensors or lasers for diameter reading of logs for first saw autoset with manual operator override, auto band saw set to make four sided cants. Comes with a Generation 3 Precision Chain Feed using 140 roller chain and hardened t-rail track, 20hp variable speed electric chain drive with VFD climate controlled cab, and four camera color monitoring system. Saw 2 has a minimum 3” saw set. Saw two comes with two 75hp motors and polychain belt drives, 2” induction hardened chrome shafts and linear slide bearings, and temposonic cylinders with sensors and helper cylinders for husk frame autoset (and manual override). The outfeed consists of 6" cant/slab separation wings behind saw, four sets of spring loaded hold-on wings and an 8” H-beam common frame. This machine can be used as a stand alone with one person operating the machine or it can be used in a pallet mill. Pallet mills can vary, but generally used with a slat table to separate the slabs, splitter, trimmer and VSA with just a few people in the whole sawmill. edit. Precision Sharp Chain (Available with Circle Saws or MIT Twin Bands)

Cooper Machine also offers a high quality Precision Sharp Chain that comes with a 140 roller chain t-bar rail sharp chain system for faster production. This system is also available with Cooper Machine's Generation 4 chain with larger drags or Viking Chain.It has a thumper to drive the log down on the chain. This machine is available with either circle saws (see 1st video) or MIT band saws (see 2nd video). The Precision Sharp Chain Scragg is also available with vertical edgers to edge slabs on the Sharp Chain. Or add chipping heads (either Key Knife or Cortex) to chip the slabs on the Scragg. Works great in conjunction with a slab recovery system to recover the slabs. This machine is available with either ABB or Allen Bradley PLC. Starters and VFDs can be quoted as well. All of this equipment is manufactured from heavy duty steel and parts to create a long lasting machine with low maintenance costs.

Optimized Edger

Cooper Machine is now offering Optimized Edgers. We are able to provide a linear, transverse or for really tight spaces, we can do a combination of the two while cutting up to 15 boards per minute. Comes with either a two or three saw solution.We are able to feed from one or both sides. We are using A&E's Iris and controls package for optimization. Which uses Joe-Scan 25MX scanners in a triangulated position and is one of the fastest and most accurate scanners on the market. This system has an operating system that is user friendly. We can scan from just the top or from the top and bottom. Currently available for logs from 6' up to 20'. Give us a call for more details and to find out what will work best for your mill.

Board Edger

Now offering an all electric version of our popular two or three saw board edger. Cooper Machine manufactures a 2, 3 or 4 saw edger that is able to edge cants, boards or slabs. The most popular 6” edger comes with two movable saws to handle cants, boards or slabs from 3 inch to 18 inch wide (but custom configurations available). The operator uses the console to select the sawing size and then an optional set of laser lights follows the saw and shines on the wood to assist the operator in choosing the right sawing solution. The edger is available with an optional infeed rollcase with a set of jump chains to assist the operator in positioning the larger material onto the edger. The material can either be manually pushed onto the edger or this can be automated. On both options, multiple hold-downs pin the material to the rollers for better accuracy.

Pallet Slab Recovery System

Cooper Machine offers several options for Slab Recovery. From the Scragg saw, slabs head to a trimmer and the strips gets separated on a Slat Table. Once trimmed, the slabs go to a VSA which optimized, can process up to 40 boards a minute. All with just one operator. If you need to up your production and cut down on labor, ditch those bands saws because this is the way to go. However, if you prefer bands, we offer those as well. Optimized Slab Edger

Cooper Machine is now providing an Optimized Slab Edger to process your slabs efficiently. This machine can have hogging or chipping heads added to it to hog or chip the strips to make it even more efficient. Pictures and video to come.

MIT Charring Machine

Manual charring machine for barrels from 53 gallons up to 132 gallons. Electronic ignition pilot with safety valve. Manual carriage with gas burner approximately 40". The barrel is manually loaded onto rollers. The barrel is turned during the charring session using four drive wheels and has a VDF to determine the speed of the turning. The ignition switch moves in and out. When it is ready to char, it moves in closer to the barrel and then chars based on the program you determined. It does need the metal piece to protect the croze. MIT recommends keeping the head on one end while charring. You can use either natural gas or propane, we just needs to know which you prefer.The charring timing is programmable. The intensity of the gas and oxygen of the flame inside the barrel is manually regulated. Will process approximately 5-8 barrels per hour.

Hydraulic Hoop Press

This Hoop Press is used to secure rings onto barrels. The minimum diameter of the tighening ring is 21" and the maximum diameter is 35". Comes with ten clamps with hydro-mechanical drive, a 39" hydraulic cylinder, speed control up and down commanded by manual control and a full electrical panel. The portal width is 47" and has a capacity of 20 tons pressed. Moves downward 35" in 9 seconds and moves upward 35" in 6 seconds. We now offer a faster version as well with a larger power unit. Required power is 15HP.

MIT Automatic Double Crozing Machine

This double crozing machine is designed to process the barrel heads, build the croze and simultaneously chamfer and clean the barrel ends. Designed for a barrel with a minimum height of 33 inches and a maximum height of 42 inches. This is manually loaded by the operator. It includes an adjustable cross slider for cutter blocks. Comes with a hydraulic power unit and full electrical panel. Machine will come with a cutting element.

MIT Automatic Sanding Machine for Barrels

MIT S.A. is located in Santiago, Chile in one of the world's prominent wine making regions. This machine is used to sand barrels. This machine sand barrels with a minimum height of 33" and a maximum height of 41", a minimum diameter (from the extremes) of 19" and a maximum diameter (from the extremes) of 25" and a minimum diameter (from the bilge) of 19" and a maximum diameter (from the bilge) of 33". The sanding head comes with a three position tilt drive following the curvature of barrel, clamping and automatic centering of tonel, full automatic cycle work and electrical panel.

MIT Barrel Shaper

The Barrel Shaper is for barrels 53 gallons up to 132 gallons. Maximum diameter of 47 1/2” (1200 mm) tightening ring and a minimum diameter of 21 5/8” (550 mm) tightening ring. Comes with 8 clamps using a hydro-mechanical drive, two hydraulic cylinders and can be manual or automatic cycle using a PLC. Required power is 2.2 kW. Comes with full electrical panel and power unit. We suggest cutting a hole in the concrete to set the barrel shaper floor level for easier loading and unloading.

Overhead Scragg (with Vertical Edgers)

End-dogging log mills have been a Cooper Machine specialty for 50 years, which is why Cooper is known for being the best Scragg on the market. Cooper Machine offers versions of the Overhead Scragg that are designed to handle logs as small as 3 feet up to 20 feet long, depending on the customer’s specifications. These machines are designed and built to run a long time (with some still in operation over 30 + years) with little maintenance, and with just one person needed to operate the machine. We do this to save you money in the long run. The Overhead Scragg is available with 48” or 56” diameter circle saws. Also available with a Twin Band (see Twin Band Overhead). These machines are available with several options for controls/setworks including: Cooper X/Y Ultrasonic scanning,a Horner PLC/Delta Controller or 3D scanning from Lewis Controls. The Overhead Scragg is available with several upgrades available including three or four saw vertical edgers, graphic display and pivot dog lift for faster loading. Also now available with chipping heads. We will soon be offering upgrades for our existing customers to upgrade to a PLC.

Slat Table

The slat table is built as one common unit for easy installation. Multiple sizes are available and custom built to fit slab length requirements. The slat tables are made of heavy duty steel slats with a durable electric drive included. The steel slats are interlaced to prevent broken slats and downtime. Slat tables are usually built as one common unit, although larger slat tables will be built in pieces for shipping purposes.

Gang Top Arbor Conventional

Cooper Machine makes a conventional gang saw. The operator selects the bay and then the computer automatically goes to that position (which the operator can override) before it feeds into the machine. Comes with infeed with jump chains, driven hold-downs and outfeed rollcase and cage. The machine can be customized to fit your needs.

MIT 1400 Over/Under Resaw

The MIT 1400 Horizontal Resaw comes with either 8 or 10" bands. This machine can be used over/under with two independent heads on top of each other or can also come in tandem. Comes with 100hp motors and a pneumatic tension system with air bag. It has a fixed pressure guide system. Comes with MIT PLC controls.

MIT S.A. Horizontal Bands 1000

MIT has four models of the horizontal band resaw. The 1000 model works well with cants and slabs. It has heads mounted on a reinforced frame, 40” (1000mm) diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for 2 or 4” bands. It has one 60hp electrical motor on each head either 50 or 60 htz. A variable speed drive for principle motor is included along with a polychain belt drive. Also includes a 13’-0” infeed and outfeed metal tabletop chain conveyor. Available with manual head adjustment or a Mudata programmable measuring system. We also include a Lubie lubrication system for ease of lubricating.

Flex Log/Pole Merchandising and Sorting System

The Cooper Flex-Log Merchandising and Sorting System is a great option to maximize your operation. Pre-sort logs or poles by length and/or diameter to increase your mill throughput. Or sort logs by length and diameter for export logs. This is also a great solution when you have one Debarker feeding multiple mills. Video coming soon!

Skewing Overhead

The Skewing Overhead takes the best of the Standard Overhead and adds some new features that increases both yield and production over the Standard Overhead. Different variations of this machine can handle logs as small as 3 feet up to 20 feet long, depending on the customer’s specifications. Like our Standard Overheads, these machines are designed and built to run a long time with little maintenance, and with just one man needed to operate the machine. We do this to save you money. This machine comes standard with skewing log turners that are able to skew up to 3" left/right. This allows the Overhead to create two equal faces to increase yield on marginal logs and reduce the amount of boards to be edged. The modification to a rear pivot dog lift allows for increased production.

Twin Band Skewing Overhead with Chipping Heads

We took our high production Skewing Overhead and MIT 10 inch Band Saw and added Key Knife Chipping Heads and made a masterpiece. This machine can cut hardwoods or softwoods from 5" up to 28" in diameter. Multiple length options are available. This machine has our skewing center system with independent log positioners, ultrasonic sensors for diameter readings of the logs for autoset with manual override (or 3D scanning available), and skewing log turners. There are two wide cant supports (one before and one after the chipping heads). Six head key knife chipping heads with 150hp drive motors and a polychain belt drive. A MIT Twin Band (or customer preference) with 63 inch diameter wheels and 10 inch bands were used on this machine but different size bands and wheels are available. Outfeed consists of 8 inch center beam cant guide with two 22 inch wide belt conveyors. Comes with hydraulics, power unit, a 8 x 8 foot cab, four camera color monitoring system, computer and graphic display.

Twin Band Overhead

Twin Bands ranging in sizes 8" up to 12" are available with either the Skewing Overhead or the Standard Overhead. Cooper Machine sells MIT S.A. band saws or we can use the customer's choice. Models are available to cut from 36” up to 20’ in length. This machine is also available with Chipping Heads and can be run with Cooper controls or 3D Scanning (Lewis Controls or your choice).

Conventional Sharp Chain

Cooper Machine offers several versions of the Sharp Chain Scragg. The Standard Sharp Chain uses 100 roller chain with drags to run inside 3 x 4 x 3/8 tubing with 3/8 x 1 AR wear strips. It is built to accommodate smaller diameter (from 3 ½” to 12”) low grade logs with standard feed speeds from 40” to 20’ long. The Sharp Chain Scragg is also available with manual setworks, the Cooper profiling and measuring system or Lewis Controls 3D scanning. This equipment is manufactured from heavy duty steel and parts to create a long lasting machine with low maintenance costs.

Yield Champ

The Yield Champ Scragg is a combination Sharp Chain Scragg and Edger for further processing the cant. It utilitizes an optimized log turner and sharp chain feed system. A great benefit of the Yield champ is it requires minimum man power (only one man is needed to operate both the Sharp Chain Scragg and Edger). Once the log is through the 44”, 48” or 56” diameter saws (depending the customer’s requirements), the cant is rotated 90 degrees and then fed into a second saw(s). There it is cut into a three or four sided cant or into two cants and two slabs with the three saw option. This mill is available with Cooper computer controlled saw setworks (which provides precise cutting of cants) as well as several options depending on customer needs including an infeed deck and slab recovery system. All of this equipment is manufactured from heavy duty steel and parts to create a long lasting machine with low maintenance costs.

Top Arbor Two or Three Saw

The top arbor two or three saw trimmer trims three sided cants or slabs. This is a great option behind the Yield Champ to edge the cants or three sided pieces.

Cant/Tie Stacking System

This Cant Stacking System from Cooper Machine is available with a wide variety of pocket combinations. System available with unscrambler, end trimmer, cab and stacking pockets. Stacked cants are removed using a forklift. Great easy system to stacking those cants and ties!

Multi Saw Pallet Trimmer

Trimmer can be set up from two to give heads. Can by automatically fed or manually fed. 20" saws for up to 7" tall cants. Comes with guard cages, dust guard, and trim block and sawdust waste belt built into the frame. For more information or a quote, please give us a call. MIT True Lumber

You now have another option when you're looking for a Stationary Carriage with a Movable Headrig. This machine has the ability to single or double cut. Available with bands from 4-10". Standard length from 8-16' and up to 36" diameter but models for other log lengths and diameters are available up to 40' long and 44" wide. The 6" True Lumber has a 55" movable headrig, 6" single or double cut bands, three knees and 17.5 degree slant carriage. Comes with an infeed deck, Brownsville style turner, operators cab, board conveyor, sawdust conveyor, carriage drive, Variable Frequency Drives for motor, winch, log rotator and brake, and setworks (Lewis Controls or any other PLC can be used). This is a great machine for thin kerf mills looking for more production, Scragg and tie mills looking to capitalize on lucrative grade markets, resaw capability in a fraction of the space and any mill looking for a higher profit in a smaller space. A 6" True Lumber will be assembled, tested and in stock beginning 2nd quarter 2016 at Cooper Machine.

Stave Cutup System

Now introducing a great option for cutting Stave Bolts. Cooper Machine makes a Cutup System for logs up to 34 inches in diameter. It can include an Infeed Trough Conveyor with WDH-110 chain with log cradles and hold-downs, 84 inch Cutoff Saw, Outfeed Trough Conveyor, Automatic/Manual Push Kickers, Cooper Control System, Starter Panel with VFD drives, and 6’ x 6’ Operator’s Cab. The SCI-1275 is MIT's largest center split resaw. It comes with 55" diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for either 6 or 8" bands. Variable speed hydraulics feed from 0 to 227 feet per minute. Fixed pressure guides. Electric motor for quick change of saw. High tension band with pneumatic systems. Air strain system with air bags. Includes hydraulic tank, pump, electrical motor, valves etc. With 75hp 50/60 htz electric motor and complete electrical panels. This machine can either center split or offset cut. Heavy Duty Debarker

Now introducing the Cooper Stave Debarker. Debark logs 18” to 46” long and 8” to 34” in diamter. Comes with infeed plate slides, 48” long Stringer Bark King Debarker Head with 2 15/16” shaft and bearings, 125hp 1200RPM drive motor and drive, depth gauge plates in head, eyes for opening and closing log holding arm position, 1” AR log cage arm assembly with 3 7/16” Can Am pivot shaft bearings, 6”@20 beam, Six 21”OD, 1” AR Bull Wheels for Log Rotating and Removal. Debarked logs are dropped out below. You can open the cage and pass logs through if hog is down. Debarker will fit in the same spot as existing debarker. Comes with VFD and Soft Starter, Control Panel with Computer/PLC and Software to Auto Run Debarker. Cut down on your labor! One person can run the Stave Cutup System and Debarker. If you have short pallet logs you want debarked, this machine can handle that too!

MIT Carousel Block Cutter

MIT Carousel Block Cutter has a carousel with ten clamping stations, mechanical press and a manual regulation cutting head with digital measure. Will process up to a 5.5" cant. Has a minimum height cut of @" and maximum of 28". Comes with a special flat WEG motor 7.5hp 60htz. Optional belt conveyor for block output. Uses a 19 11/18" saw blade (not included). Comes with power and control panel. Weighs approximately 4500lbs. This is a great machine to cut up to 90 blocks per minute!

MIT S. A. Center Split Resaw SCI-1400 Model

The SCI-1400 is MIT's largest center split resaw. It comes with 55" diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for either 6 or 8" bands. Variable speed hydraulics feed from 0 to 227 feet per minute. Tree Length Merchandising Saw

Cooper Machine manufactures a tree length cutup system with infeed log trough, 76" cutoff saw, outfeed trough with length stops and also push kickers or rotary kickers (if needed). The diameter of the log is determined by using ultrasound. The log tree length cutup system automatically cuts logs to predetermined lengths. The cutup system is designed to fit your application. Different size cutoff saws are available.

Stave Horizontal Resaw 1000 model

The 1000 model horizontal resaw works well with cants, slabs and staves. For staves, after the bot goes through the Halving Saw, it continues into a thin kerf Vertical Quartering Saw and then. Further downstream, a Horizontal Resaw will cut a stave blank that will be separated and the remaining quarter will continue on the runaround. This machine has heads mounted on a reinforced frame, 40” (1000mm) diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for 2 or 4” bands. It has one 60hp electrical motor on each head. A variable speed drive for principle motor is included along with a polychain belt drive. Built heavier than other resaws on the market for long usage life and low maintenance.

MIT S. A. Center Split Resaw SCI-900

MIT has Two models of center split resaws to fit your needs. The SCI-900 model has 3 foot diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for 4 inch vertical band. Wheels will be flat ground unless otherwise specified. Has a high tension band with pneumatics systems. Includes a fixed pressure guide system. There are two modes where you can run it with a center split or off to one side. Manual setworks included (optional Mudata system available). Variable speed to 200 feet per minute. The principal motor is 30hp 50/60 htz and it comes complete with electrical panel.

MIT Headrig

Cooper Machine has been representing MIT equipment since 1996. We are offering headrigs to replace your headrig on your existing carriage. Available as fixed or movable headrig. 1400 model with 54" wheel is pictured with an 8" band. Smaller headrigs are available and one larger size with up to a 12" band is also available. Includes fixed pressure guides. An electric motor system raises and lowers the flywheel for ease in blade removal. Comes complete with electrical panel and starters. Available with MIT or Cooper controls.

MIT Barrel Recovery Machine

MIT S.A. is located in Santiago, Chile in one of the world's prominent wine making regions. This machine is recover used barrels with a maximum height of 41" and a minimum height of 33", a minimum diameter (from the extremes) of 19" and a maximum diameter (from the extremes) of 25" and a minimum diameter (from the center) of 19" and a maximum diameter (from the center) of 33". It has a cutter head assembled on a support for inside of the barrel with a forward and reverse. The bed of the barrel holder comes with rubber drive wheels. Full automatic cycle work and electrical panel. The actual cutting element is not included.

Stick Gang Rip Saw

These small gangs can cut battons, kiln sticks and strips with ease. Heavy fabricated steel frame with guards. Includes an electrical panel and VFD feed drive. Available with different configurations, so call to find the solution that works for your application.

Operators Cab

Cooper Machine makes several different sizes of cabs. 6 x 6' and 6 x 8' are the most common cab sizes but they can be made to fit your specific application. Generally comes with heat/air and seat. Plenty of room for the control console and a camera system to see what's going on in the mill.

This combined with our hand-laminated process using layers of woven roving and polyester resin provides a higher density monolithic section, which has a greater tensile strength and abrasion resistance than sections manufactured with a chopper gun using fiberglass strand. MDI MP-2000

The most advanced under conveyor system offered features MDI’s unrivaled MP-4 Digital Technology, providing performance and capabilities not available from other under conveyor metal detectors. Chipper

Cooper Machine is a sales representative for Precision Husky Waste Systems. We are able to provide any Precision Husky equipment to complement the Cooper Machine equipment you purchase including screens, chippers and vibrating conveyors. The canted side spout design and the position of the knife causes a smooth slicing action. The attack angle of the knife gives a gentle lift to the slab as the knife passes the center line and begins the upward swing turning the slab counterclockwise. The spout has a flat bottom and canted side to give 25 % more anvil contact, preventing slapping and wood turning in the wrong direction. Horizontal and vertical anvils give additional life, requiring less maintenance. Both anvils are hard surfaced with Colmonoy with a hardness of 62 - 65, Rockwell C scale. With a four sided replaceable anvil, maintenance and time are saved. Less horsepower is needed with Precision's smoother action. Options for 38" [96cm], 48" [122cm], 58" [147cm] and 66" [168cm]

MIT S.A. Vertical Band 1500 Model

MIT Vertical Resaw Model 1500 has a 59 inch diameter fabricated steel wheels for 8 or 10” bands. Designed and fabricated with a solid center to generate maximum airflow efficiency while still allowing optimum design strength. Flat ground face (unless otherwise specified). Wheels are stress relieved and balanced to insure smooth and vibration free operation. All bearings are first line; flywheel bearings are double taper-lock roller type. The air strain system has air bags for long lasting service and virtually no maintenance except for draining. Line bar comes extra-long and extra high. The resaw also has double parallel hydraulic arms and a variable speed hydraulic feed from 0 to 230fpm. It is driven by 100hp motors 50 or 60htz. It also comes with a Mudata programmable measuring system and a live roller infeed table (7” in diameter). A hydraulic tank and power system comes complete with 7.5hp electric motor for quick change of saws. It comes on a frame of reinforced steel.

MIT S.A. Horizontal Bands 1400 Model Single

MIT has four models of Horizontal Band Resaws. The largest is the 1400 model. It comes as a single head, a double head in tandem (back to back) or as an over/under band. It has 4’7” (1400mm) diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for 8” bands. Designed and fabricated with a solid center to generate maximum airflow efficiency while still allowing optimum design strength. Wheels are stress relieved and balanced to ensure smooth and vibration free operation. All bearings are first line quality. Air strain system is supplied with heavy-duty air bag using hydraulic hose for long lasting service and virtually no maintenance except for draining. Pneumatic system for flywheel movement to change blade. System allows adequate movement for extension and contraction for blade removal. Tracking and final adjustment are easily made. 100hp electrical motor on the head either 50 or 60 htz. Frame configurations have been engineered and designed from structural steel tubing and steel plate.

MIT has four horizontal band resaw models. The 1275 model has 4’2” (1275 mm) diameter fabricated solid steel wheels for 6” or 8" bands. Designed and fabricated with a solid center to generate maximum airflow efficiency while still allowing optimum design strength. MIT S.A. Vertical Band 1275

MIT has five models of their Vertical Band Resaw to cut varying widths and heights. The 1275 model uses a 6" band and has a 4'2" wheel. These resaws come with a line bar, variable hydraulic feed from zero (0) to two hundred and thirty (230) feet per minute, a live roller table with four (4) 6 ½ inch rollers, cartridge type pressure guides with the lower stationary, upper moveable, operator controlled, single or double hydraulic hauling and press roller drums, yoke and flywheel pistons of cast steel, air strain system with heavy duty air bag, using hydraulic hose for long lasting service and virtually no maintenance except for draining, electric motor activated system for raising and lowering flywheel, all systems are complete with valves, motors, cylinders, hoses, and controls, hydraulic system complete with tank, motor, pump, hoses, and valves, programmable measuring system using MUDATA microprocessor with ten position program and infinite variable parameters, and a main drive.

MIT S.A. Horizontal Bands 700 Model

MIT makes four different models of the horizontal band. The smallest model is the 700 model. It has 28" diameter wheels and uses either a 1" or 2" band. It has one 20hp electrical motor on each head and can be used either 50 or 60htz. It also has a polychain belt drive and a 13’-0” infeed and outfeed metal tabletop chain conveyor.It uses pressure guides and can either have a manual saw set or a Mudata system can be added. Multiple heads available.
