Yield Champ

The Yield Champ Scragg is a combination Sharp Chain Scragg and Edger for further processing the cant. It utilitizes an optimized log turner and sharp chain feed system. A great benefit of the Yield champ is it requires minimum man power (only one man is needed to operate both the Sharp Chain Scragg and Edger). Once the log is through the 44”, 48” or 56” diameter saws (depending the customer’s requirements), the cant is rotated 90 degrees and then fed into a second saw(s). There it is cut into a three or four sided cant or into two cants and two slabs with the three saw option. This mill is available with Cooper computer controlled saw setworks (which provides precise cutting of cants) as well as several options depending on customer needs including an infeed deck and slab recovery system. All of this equipment is manufactured from heavy duty steel and parts to create a long lasting machine with low maintenance costs.

Vertical Saw Arbor (VSA)

MIT S.A. Board Stacker

MIT makes a board stacker that includes a heavy duty frame with pneumatic cylinders and stopper to prepare and separate the layers. The MIT Automatic Stacker is able to stack 10 layers per minute. It has eight swords that are electrically driven. There is a package aligner at one end with a pneumatics system. The lumber layer aligner has two pneumatic adjustable cylinders. There is a hoist with 4 support arms. It also has a heavy duty frame and a working height of 7’.3. The MIT automatic system for feeding sticks is to be loaded manually at the top with sixteen pockets. The sticks should be of 13/16 x 1-3/8 x 4’3-3/16”. This system comes with a MIT power and control panel with power boards. The control system commands the line with PLC, sensors, variable frequency, etc. Important note: This stacker is designed to pass lumber from 3” to 12” wide and thicknesses of 5/8” to 4”. Board Edger

Now offering an all electric version of our popular two saw board edger (no hydraulics!) Cooper Machine manufactures a 2, 3 or 4 saw edger that is able to edge cants, boards or slabs. The most popular 6” edger comes with two movable saws to handle cants, boards or slabs from 3 inch to 18 inch wide (but custom configurations available). The operator uses the console to select the sawing size and then an optional set of laser lights follows the saw and shines on the wood to assist the operator in choosing the right sawing solution. Tandem Scragg Saw with Inline Chop Saw

Cooper Tandem Scragg is great for smaller diameter logs when you want production without a lot of employees. The Tandem Scragg is comprised of two saws, 48 inch Saw 1 and 36 inch Saw 2 (custom configurations available). Thinnest material/thickest material saw 1 can cut is 3” – 12”. Ultrasonic sensors for diameter reading of logs for first saw autoset with manual operator override, auto band saw set to make four sided cants. Comes with a Generation 3 Precision Chain Feed using 140 roller chain and hardened t-rail track, 20hp variable speed electric chain drive with VFD climate controlled cab, and four camera color monitoring system. Saw 2 has a minimum 3” saw set. Saw two comes with two 75hp motors and polychain belt drives, 2” induction hardened chrome shafts and linear slide bearings, and temposonic cylinders with sensors and helper cylinders for husk frame autoset (and manual override). Skewing Overhead

The Skewing Overhead takes the best of the Standard Overhead and adds some new features that increases both yield and production over the Standard Overhead. Different variations of this machine can handle logs as small as 3 feet up to 20 feet long, depending on the customer’s specifications. Like our Standard Overheads, these machines are designed and built to run a long time with little maintenance, and with just one man needed to operate the machine. We do this to save you money. This machine comes standard with skewing log turners that are able to skew up to 3" left/right. This allows the Overhead to create two equal faces to increase yield on marginal logs and reduce the amount of boards to be edged. Conventional Sharp Chain

Cooper Machine offers several versions of the Sharp Chain Scragg. The Standard Sharp Chain uses 100 roller chain with drags to run inside 3 x 4 x 3/8 tubing with 3/8 x 1 AR wear strips. Stave Equalizer

Cooper Machine offers a Stave Equalizer Two Saw Top Arbor Trimmer. This machine feeds from the side and as soon as it gets in it even ends the board and lugs it through the trimmer. This machine manually adjusts from 30 inches up to 48 inches and trims boards from 3/4 inches up to 2 inches thick. Each arbor is mounted on 2" chrome slides and bearings with hand crank sets. The rollcase is a side feed 8', with 4' in the trimmer and 4' out for hand feeding with a 1hp drive. Four sets of board hold-downs over the lug feed. Comes with two 22" diameter saw blades, two 10hp saw arbor motors, 81x lug chain feed, 2hp electric lug chain feed, a starter panel with starters for the machine and a control panel with E-stop, motor start/stop buttons, lug start/stop eyes and a PLC for lug feed control. Twin Band Skewing Overhead with Chipping Heads

We took our high production Skewing Overhead and MIT 10 inch Band Saw and added Key Knife Chipping Heads and made a masterpiece. This machine can cut hardwoods or softwoods from 5" up to 28" in diameter. Multiple length options are available. This machine has our skewing center system with independent log positioners, ultrasonic sensors for diameter readings of the logs for autoset with manual override (or 3D scanning available), and skewing log turners. There are two wide cant supports (one before and one after the chipping heads). Six head key knife chipping heads with 150hp drive motors and a polychain belt drive. A MIT Twin Band (or customer preference) with 63 inch diameter wheels and 10 inch bands were used on this machine but different size bands and wheels are available. Outfeed consists of 8 inch center beam cant guide with two 22 inch wide belt conveyors. The canted side spout design and the position of the knife causes a smooth slicing action. The attack angle of the knife gives a gentle lift to the slab as the knife passes the center line and begins the upward swing turning the slab counterclockwise. The spout has a flat bottom and canted side to give 25 % more anvil contact, preventing slapping and wood turning in the wrong direction. MIT Vertical Resaw Model 1500 has a 59 inch diameter fabricated steel wheels for 8 or 10” bands. Designed and fabricated with a solid center to generate maximum airflow efficiency while still allowing optimum design strength. Flat ground face (unless otherwise specified). Wheels are stress relieved and balanced to insure smooth and vibration free operation. All bearings are first line; flywheel bearings are double taper-lock roller type. The air strain system has air bags for long lasting service and virtually no maintenance except for draining. Line bar comes extra-long and extra high. The resaw also has double parallel hydraulic arms and a variable speed hydraulic feed from 0 to 230fpm. It is driven by 100hp motors 50 or 60htz. It also comes with a Mudata programmable measuring system and a live roller infeed table (7” in diameter). This machine is not just a dehumidifier but also a condensation machine with a heat pump that uses electricity as a source of energy. Incomac's heat pump drying system provides a considerable energy savings, while still producing optimal efficiency. Many heat pump systems reduce the humidity by the cooling process, but do not effectively use the ability to heat as well as cool. The unique design of this dehumidification kiln uses all energy to its fullest. The cold side of the system is used to extract the moisture from the air inside the kiln by condensation.
